Biomedical Sciences Faculty Positions
The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Florida State University College of Medicine invites applications for a senior (Associate or Full Professor) faculty position in Translational and/or Discovery Research and two open rank tenure-track faculty positions.
The successful candidates will be basic- or clinician-scientists with a proven track record of excellence in creative approaches to Biomedical Research, extramural funding, and leading interdisciplinary groups. Possible areas of research include neuroscience, human cognition, microbiome, and cancer biology, but the main focus will be on the quality of the research program and its impact on human health. For the senior position, the focus should be in Translational Research in novel biomedical interventions (including drug discovery) and/or biomarker development. The senior applicant will possess the leadership capabilities for directing their own research cluster. The vision for these hires is the potential to recruit a cohesive cluster of faculty, and also to establish collaborative, interdisciplinary research program(s) that integrate with the research programs of the existing 34 research faculty in Biomedical Sciences and with those in other Departments at FSU. The faculty members of the Department participate in medical and graduate education.
For Questions about the Associate Professor/Professor in Translational Research position (Job ID 42658) contact Dr. Jeffrey Joyce (Jeffrey.Joyce@med.fsu.edu) & Natasha Coen (Natasha.Coen@med.fsu.edu). For questions about the two Open Rank positions (Job ID 42657) contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
To apply, please visit jobs.fsu.edu and search the Job ID (42657 or 42658) corresponding to the position the applicant feels most appropriate for their expertise. Candidates should upload a single PDF to their application containing their CV, a research statement, and a list of at least three professional references. Applications will be accepted until the positions have been filled. Screening will begin immediately, and early applications are encouraged. Applications received by 01/06/2018 will be given priority.
The Research and Discovery mission of the College of Medicine is facilitated by more than 150,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art laboratory space and core labs in proteomics, genomics, advanced confocal, superresolution and multiphoton microscopy, flow cytometry, animal care, and cell culture. Research in the Department of Biomedical Sciences covers a broad spectrum of disciplines, offering a rich, diverse, and collegial environment. The Translational Science core Laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art mass spectrometry and deep sequencing equipment. A new 3T MRI system (Siemens MAGNETOM Prisma) is housed in a new MR facility at the College of Medicine. Current research in the department is broadly focused on understanding the molecular bases of human diseases and regenerative medicine (/phd/research-areas). At FSU collaborative opportunities abound within the Department of Biomedical Sciences, in the departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Computational Science, Psychology, in the Institute for Molecular Biophysics, and at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. See Department of Biomedical Sciences for more information.
