About the Program

The Transitional Year Residency Program is sponsored by The Florida State University (FSU) College of Medicine in partnership with BayCare Health System in Winter Haven, Florida.

During training, residents will participate in a broad-based program of graduate medical education in multiple clinical disciplines within the supportive environment and close-knit community of Winter Haven and Winter Haven Hospital. Due to a shortage of physicians in central Florida and Polk County, it is hoped that our TY residents will have had such an exceptional experience here that after completion of their advanced training programs that our graduates would consider returning to the area to practice.
