The Florida State University College of Medicine Transitional Year Residency at Lee Health System (Cape Coral) participates in the NRMP MATCH.  Please apply through the ERAS system.

Requirements:

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Florida State University College of Medicine Transitional Year Residency Program. ERAS® — the Electronic Residency Application Service — is a service that transmits residency applications, letters of recommendation, Dean’s Letters/MSPE, transcripts, and other supporting credentials from applicants and medical schools to fellowship, osteopathic internship and residency programs, to include:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) 

  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation 

  • Official Medical School Transcripts 

  • USMLE or COMLEX Scores 

  • USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK (or COMLEX Level 1 and Level 2-CE) with passing scores. 

  • Step 2 CK/COMLEX Level 2-CE scores must be received by the program before the NRMP rank list deadline. 

  • Personal Statement 

  • Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) or Dean’s Letter 

  • For International Medical Graduates (IMGs) 

  • Clinical Experience 

  • Minimum of 8 months of U.S. clinical experience is required. 

  • Eligibility for Licensure 

  • Must be eligible to obtain a medical license in Florida, in accordance with the Department of Health/Medical Quality Assurance Division of the Florida Board of Medicine. 

Additional requirements for International Medical Graduates:

  • Strong Examination Performance 

    • USMLE Step 1 or Step 2 CK (or COMLEX Level 1 or Level 2-CE) first attempt pass with a score greater than 220 (COMLEX equivalent score of 500) is preferred.

    • Both Step 1 and Step 2 (or COMLEX Levels 1 and 2) must be passed on the first attempt. 

  • Recent Graduation 

    • Graduation from medical school or enrollment in an accredited residency within the last 3 years. 

  • U.S. Clinical Experience 

    • Residence in the United States for at least one year preferably with medical experience.

Additional requirements for International Medical Graduates:

WE CANNOT ACCEPT HONOR, OR ISSUE J-1 OR H-1 VISAS. WE DO NOT OFFER OBSERVERSHIPS.  

 

We ARE able to offer MS3 and MS4 students currently enrolled in accredited U.S Medical schools (allopathic and osteopathic). Please contact us for further information.
