Developing Quality Programs
Into its second decade, the FSU College of Medicine continues to seek funding for special initiatives that will help it become a statewide and national leader in medical education and research. The college has departments of biomedical sciences, clinical sciences, behavioral sciences and social medicine, geriatrics, and family medicine and rural health. While the college will strive for all of its departments to be nationally ranked, it will especially seek to become a national leader in the fields of geriatrics and rural health. It also will contribute to the body of medical and health policy knowledge through centers of excellence focused on specific fields of research and education.
Opportunities to strengthen the college's programs include:
College of Medicine Program Fund
The endowment will provide direct flexible support for the college's initiatives to meet the programs' changing needs over time. Examples of present needs: assistantships, staff support, recruiting, internships, student services, marketing, faculty stipends, speakers series, and other projects as appropriate.
Research Centers of Excellence
The gift establishes an endowment fund to support education, faculty research, student programs, corporate interaction, professional programs and other expenses associated with the operation of the center. A chosen center will be named in honor of the donor or an individual suggested by the donor. Several research centers are available for naming gifts, including:
- Center for Patient Safety
- Center for Strategic Public Health Preparedness
- Center for Innovative Collaboration in Medicine and Law
Graduate Speakers Series
Endowment income supports expenses associated with an annual lecture series in an area or discipline of special interest to the donor. Lectures are presented by outstanding practitioners or academics from within the field chosen by the donor.
