Career Advising
The Florida State University College of Medicine supports students in choosing a medical specialty. Career Advising occurs across all four years of medical school and includes a variety of opportunities for students to explore career options and to learn more about their own interests and career values. Students are introduced to the Careers In Medicine toolkit early in the first year and are given access to advisors, student interest groups, and career spotlights. The first two years focus largely on specialty exploration and facilitation of self-knowledge, guided by faculty mentors. As students narrow their career focus in the clinical years, they have access to specialty advisors who aid in their continued career development and facilitate the application to the Match.
