Indian River Medical Center is launching an expansion of existing third- and fourth-year medical school rotations beyond the dozen or so students who train each year at IRMC as part of the current program with the FSU College of Medicine's Fort Pierce Regional Campus. If the incoming Cleveland Clinic leadership agrees and if in the upcoming merger with IRMC passes regulatory hurdles, future graduate residencies and fellowships could be available to medical school graduates from around the country and abroad.

Reema Tawfiq is an exercise science student and aspiring physician discovering a passion for research. Beyond her involvement in research, Tawfiq is also a member of the FSU College of Medicine's outreach program USSTRIDE, as well as USSTRIDE's sister organization, MAPS. She is also involved in the laboratory of College of Medicine Professor Myra Hurt, under the supervision of Raed Rizkallah, a research faculty member within the college.

Ken Brummel-Smith, the Charlotte Edwards Maguire Professor of Geriatrics at the FSU College of Medicine, has named his class, “There’s Only One Thing in Life You Can’t Avoid — and It’s Not Taxes.”
