College of Medicine Information Security Team
The Information Security and Privacy Team ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the College of Medicine's information systems.
The team also assists the College of Medicine in compliance with Federal and State law, as well as Florida State University Policy. To ensure compliance with HIPAA and HITECH, the Security Team manages HIPAA training which is required for all CoM Faculty, Staff, and Students. Our Mission:
The Information Security and Privacy Team’s mission is to promote information security best practices through security awareness, online resources, targeted workshops, annual security awareness programs, and by publishing policies, standards, and best practices. Information security program consists of security awareness, compliance, risk management, and incident response. The team enforces security elements within the application, infrastructure, data architectures, and development methodologies.
What We Do:
The College of Medicine Security and Privacy team is responsible for setting CoM policies, strategies, standards, and procedures for information and system security including protection, disaster recovery, and business continuance. The team also provides forensic services and investigations of any CoM employee and units’ computer needing administrative investigation in the event of an incident. The Information Security and Privacy team continually develops and implements security audits and procedures to ensure system and information confidentiality, integrity, availability, reliability, and legal/regulatory compliance measures are met.
The team promotes the secure and responsible use of the College of Medicine’s network.
