Mission

The primary mission of the Florida State University College of Medicine Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Lee Health (Cape Coral) is to graduate capable and efficient OB GYN specialists who are life-long learners committed to the provision of excellent, compassionate, patient-centered health care for all women in their care, and who engage in promoting a healthier future for our community.

About the Program

Florida State University College of Medicine Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Lee Health (Cape Coral) aims to: 

  1. Train residents to provide the highest quality patient-centered, evidence-based care, enhancing women’s health in communities they serve;
  2. Graduate residents who obtain certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology or the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology;
  3. Ensure a program culture that exemplifies excellence while ensuring a psychologically safe, professional environment of inquiry;
  4. Graduate residents who are committed to lifelong learning and patient advocacy who are dedicated to improving health disparities and health equity; and
  5. Provide residents with a comprehensive clinical and surgical skills curriculum designed to prepare them for advanced subspecialty training or independent practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology in a range of clinical settings.
