The award recognizes achievements of men and women who have made significant contributions to the progress and welfare of Florida. Dr. Maguire was one of the first female doctors to open a pediatric practice in Orlando in 1952, which she ran for 22 years. Following her retirement, Dr. Maguire donated one million dollars to help jump start the creation of the College of Medicine at Florida State University. |
