About Immokalee

SignImmokalee is a small city in southwest Florida. As of the 2000 Census, Immokalee's population was about 20,000. During harvest season, there can be as many as 50,000 people. It is a federally designated Health Professionals Shortage Area. The patient population is made up of primarily Latinos. Many are Mexican migrant farm workers. There are also Haitians, African Americans, and many Caucasians who have been farmers and cattle ranchers in Immokalee for three generations or more. Immokalee is situated approximately 30 minutes from Naples and Fort Myers, an area known for its beaches and cultural activities.
