Donation

FSUCares accepts monetary donations for each of the four funds:

General: FSUCares participates in a variety of activities to promote healthy living by providing literature on preventive care and conducting health screenings of blood glucose, vision, blood pressure, and  body-mass index. Health outreach activities take place in and around Tallahassee, as well as in College of Medicine regional campus communities throughout Florida. FSUCares has participated in community events such as the North Florida Veterans Stand Down, Panhandle Area Educational Consortium Migrant Health Fair, The Ride for Hope and the Panhandle Watermelon Festival. Donate to the General FSUCares fund.

Service-Learning Spring Break Trips: Panama and Immokalee

Approximately 25 College of Medicine faculty members and students annually spend spring break on a service-learning trip to either Immokalee, Florida, or Filipina, Panama. In addition to benefiting the medically underserved, such trips allow students to learn about the delivery of culturally appropriate health care.

Having traveled to Panama since 2002, FSUCares has developed a strong partnership with the Panamanian government health system (Centro de Salud), which has been instrumental in teaching necessary procedures for delivering health care and dispensing medications. Donate to the FSUCares Panama fund.

FSUCares first traveled to Immokalee in 2005, recently partnering with the largest field tomato grower in North America (lipmanproduce.com). The partnership allows FSUCares to provide health screenings for Latino migrant farm workers or Haitian immigrants. The screenings take place in settings ranging from a basketball court to the tomato fields. Donate to the FSUCares Immokalee fund.

Chapman Community Health Program (CCHP)

CCHP is a student-run community health program composed of Florida State University College of Medicine students, faculty, and physicians, as well as medical residents from Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare.  Our goal is to provide long-term continuous care to residents of the Maryland Oaks Crossing Community through preventive health services and health education, while also connecting the community members to other healthcare resources in the Tallahassee area. Donate to the Chapman Community Health Program.
