  • Evidence-Based Individual Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, Personal Counseling
  • Academic Support & Assistance, including readiness and preparation for USMLE STEP exams

  • All services are Confidential and No-Cost to Students!

Where We Are Located:

  • Office located on the 2nd floor of the FSU COM Research Building – Suite 2301
  • We offer in-person or telehealth appointments

When We Schedule Appointments:

  • We offer 50-minute appointments, scheduled on the hour, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • We are closed for lunch from 1:00 – 2:00 pm daily.
  • Our office is closed on all major holidays and university closures.

    • Our unique model of service can address provide both services with one clinician.

What to Expect:

  • After you request an appointment, we will send you our intake forms to complete before your appointment.
  • Once you have completed the intake forms online, we will assign you to a clinician and send you appointment availability for your intake session.
  • At your intake appointment, you will meet your clinician, provide relevant background information, share your goals for treatment, and develop and treatment plan with your provider.
    • Your goals and treatment plan can be based on psychological services, academic support, or both.
  • Your clinician will recommend how often to schedule follow-up sessions. Most students meet with us on a regular basis until goals are met.
  • You can schedule a follow-up appointment at the end of each session
  • If you requested a referral for psychiatry services, you clinician will provide information about the referral process.

Confidentiality:

  • All services are confidential. We take confidentiality very seriously. No one outside of the OSCS clinicians/staff knows if you have made an appointment, attended an appointment, or what you discuss in your sessions. This includes all COM Faculty and Staff.
  • Our office requires FSU Swipe Access for entry. Swipe access is limited to COM students and essential personnel only.
  • All records are stored within our office in a confidential manner.
  • We will ask you to sign a Release of Information if you request any information to be disclosed. This includes psychiatry referrals. 
  • Sometimes, students may need to submit an absence request in order to attend an appointment in a timely manner. If so, you may indicate you have a “doctor appointment” or “medical appointment”, as our appointments fall within these categories. 

Limits to Confidentiality:

  • There are limits to confidentiality, as required by law and ethics of our license. We are obligated to disclose confidential information in the following circumstances:
    • Client Safety Concerns: Threat of harm or death to yourself.
    • Duty to Warn or Protect: Any threat of violence or harm to another person. 
    • Suspected Abuse: Any suspected abuse of a vulnerable person, such as a child, elderly person, or someone who is disabled, must be reported for their safety.
    • Court Orders: Records must be disclosed when court-ordered.
