Wellness
Gold Line

Psychological, emotional, and physical well-being are critical in the development of the competent,  caring, and resilient physician and require proactive attention to life inside and outside of medicine.  Well-being requires that physicians retain the joy in medicine while managing their own real-life  stresses. The program ensures the education of residents and faculty members in identification of the symptoms of burnout, depression, substance use disorders and how to recognition of these symptoms in themselves and how to seek appropriate care.

Each resident will choose a mentor that will monitor his/her well-being throughout the residency and can check in as much as they like. Residents will also have an opportunity to participate in semi-annual retreat days with their colleagues for some fun and engaging team building sessions. Time to attend medical, mental health and dental appointments is a must and the program will work to ensure this time is granted including those scheduled during work hours if necessary.
