Joined by family members – on the Ruby Diamond Concert Hall stage, in the audience, and watching online – they revealed both matched at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.
As the applause died down, Vesperman dipped the microphone stand dramatically and said, “But wait; there’s more.”
He wasn’t kidding.
Vesperman dropped to one knee in front of Wayland, opened a small jewelry box to reveal an engagement ring and said, “Will you marry me?” Wayland, tears streaming down her face, nodded her head and choked out “yes.”

That’s not hyperbole: The National Cancer Institute, a division of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is supporting that goal with a four-year grant totaling almost $1 million.- 07/12/2022A team of FSU College of Medicine researchers has established a correlation between a specific protein in the brain and increased vulnerability to neurodegeneration in temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). TLE is the most common form of epilepsy in adults and is often resistant to medication. The findings are published in the Journal of Neurophysiology.
