What do you like about HMSS?

I have only just begun my undergraduate career here at FSU, yet I am not afraid. Rather, the HMSS has made me more excited than ever to take this next step in the journey of medicine. The sense of companionship and support that this organization radiates excites me. I feel like I have many friends running with me rather than wandering around me. We are a very diverse group yet share key values and interests which culminates into a very unique group. The service focus of this organization also caught my attention as I feel like they are the hub of many successful service endeavors. I can't wait to see what my new HMSS friends and I can accomplish.

Why do you want to go into medicine?

Compassionate communication and an eagerness to serve our fellow man are what I believe to be key to improving this world. We all have talents to accomplish this and I was pushed towards medicine. Early on, I lived without routine healthcare and desired for things to be different. I knew it wasn't right, but I also knew that there were many more who were worse off than myself. Later on, I met several physicians who demonstrated selflessness and compassion to anyone who needed it. Those people inspired me to aim for medicine so that I could do more. I want to do my best to help the many who really do need it by pursuing medicine.
