What do you like about HMSS?

What I like most about HMSS is the strong sense of community it creates. The friendships I’ve built within my cohort and across other cohorts have become incredibly valuable, and they motivate me every day. Being surrounded by liked-minded peers at different stages of the pre‑healthcare track creates the opportunity to share advice and guidance. I also appreciate the relationships I’ve begun forming with the College of Medicine, as the staff is always so kind and consistently willing to help me along my pre‑medical journey!

Why do you want to go into medicine?

My desire to go into medicine stemmed from being my mother’s caretaker as she battled liver failure. Growing up, I learned that the love and dedication I poured into caring for her is the same kind of compassion every patient deserves. Seeing how love and empathy can shape someone’s healing showed me that care in medicine is expressed through meaningful, direct actions. That experience inspired me to pursue a path where I can provide that same level of support and compassion to others, especially those in need.
