Antonia Nemec, Ph.D., Joining IPRD as Associate Director for Research Operations

Antonia Nemec

We are thrilled to welcome Antonia A. Nemec, Ph.D. as the newAssociate Director for Research Operations at the Florida Institute for Pediatric Rare Diseases (IPRD)!

Nemec earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Toxicology from the University of Pittsburgh and completed her postdoctoral training at Yale University School of Medicine. She has been a valued member of the Florida State University College of Medicine’s faculty in the Department of Biomedical Sciences since 2015, where she has distinguished herself as an educator, researcher, and mentor.
 

Highlights of Antonia Nemec’s achievements include:

  • Recipient of FSU’s Outstanding Junior Faculty Educator Award and the Florida Undergraduate Research Association Mentor of the Year Award
  • Leading research in proteasome biogenesis, DNA repair, and molecular toxicology
  • A strong track record of academic service, curriculum development, and student mentorship
     

In her new role, Nemec will coordinate and strengthen IPRD’s expanding research portfolio, support the integration of basic and translational science, and help guide institutional growth as we build the nation’s leading center for pediatric rare disease research and innovation.

IPRD Director Pradeep Bhide noted, “Dr. Nemec brings a rare combination of scientific rigor, operational experience, and mentorship excellence to this new leadership position. As Associate Director for Research Operations, Dr. Nemec will play a key role in aligning IPRD’s growing research enterprise with our broader mission in pediatric genomic medicine and translational science. I am delighted to welcome Dr. Nemec to the IPRD leadership team.”
