Third year medical student Jackson Gill and PA student Sergio Martinez presented a Bone Break Workshop to the 11th grade anatomy class as part of the Immokalee SSTRIDE Program.  They discussed types of splints for different bone injuries and fractures as well as some makeshift materials to practice applying different types of splints.

Quote from PA student Sergio Martinez:
“The students were receptive and actively engaged with the lesson.  I hope that they can get the opportunity to have more similar medical learning opportunities in the future.”
Quote from M3 student Jackson Gill:
“My experience with SSTRIDE in Immokalee was great and very impactful. I loved working with the bright students who hope to go into professions in healthcare or STEM fields. Our mission at Florida State COM is always to aspire to be more than clinicians and contribute to the various communities in Florida. Being able to accomplish that mission with SSTRIDE through youth mentorship and educational experiences is amazing and I thank everyone involved for the opportunity.”
