Hear Cappendijk on Tuesday at Science Cafe

College of Medicine neuroscientist Susanne Cappendijk will be the featured speaker Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the Magnet Lab’s next Science Café. Topic: “Unlocking the mysteries of the brain through MRI.”

Cappendijk, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, conducts research at the Magnet Lab using the world’s strongest MRI machine to study how nicotine affects song development and song memory in zebra finches.

She uses zebra finches because they learn to sing in a way that’s similar to the way humans learn to speak.

Science Café is a series of live events featuring face-to-face conversations with scientists about current science topics. It takes place at Ray’s Steel City Saloon.
