First-Year Medical Student to Attend Summer Institute for Medical Students Program
Ariadna Mercouffer, a first-year medical student at Florida State University College of Medicine, will be attending the Summer Institute for Medical Students (SIMS) Program at Hazelton Betty Ford to learn about addiction treatment for substance use disorder.
Often described by participants as "a life-changing experience," this program provides an inside look at the dynamics of addiction and the process of healing.
By shadowing addiction treatment patients and family program participants, students gain extraordinary insight into the dynamics of addiction and the process of healing. The five-day week on campus, specifically designed for medical students, will include:
- Classroom instruction
- Clinical observation
- Integration into patient life
