Dr. Ransome Eke, MD., PhD., MBA joined the Department of Family Medicine and Rural Health Friday, November 20, 2024, as an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Rural Health at Florida State University College of Medicine.

Dr. Eke received his medical degree from the University of Benin, Nigeria, and did his residency in family medicine at Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital. He further honed his clinical expertise as an embedded clinical research fellow in pediatric gastroenterology at Greenville Health System in Greenville South Carolina. He was a recipient of the Smaller Program Award by the American College of Gastroenterology in 2016. With a deep commitment to advancing health equity, Dr. Eke focuses on innovative research and active community collaboration. Before joining FSU, he held the role of associate professor Community Medicine at Mercer University School of Medicine, and principal investigator for the CDC-funded Health Equity Navigators program, a project dedicated to reducing health disparities in Georgia's rural and underserved communities. His work prioritizes health services research, the social determinants of health, and improving health outcomes for medically underserved populations. Dr. Eke is also involved in gastrointestinal disease research following his training as an embedded research fellow in pediatric gastrointestinal division at Greenville Health System, Greenville South Carolina. He has published and presented his research on several topics including Eosinophilic Esophagitis, Colorectal cancer and Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma.
