Spring Highlights Effects of a Physical Activity Intervention for Breast Cancer Survivors

Bonnie Spring

Breast cancer survivors often face long-term health challenges, and lifestyle factors like physical activity and diet can play a key role in improving outcomes.

A study co-authored by Bonnie Spring, Ph.D., tested Fit2Thrive, a 12-week mobile health program designed to increase exercise. Among 269 participants, researchers found significant improvements in physical activity at 12 and 24 weeks, as well as higher fruit and vegetable consumption.

While other lifestyle factors such as alcohol use, fast food intake, and body weight did not change, the findings show that digital fitness tools may spark broader healthy habits and offer scalable ways to support survivors in reducing long-term risks.
