From One Caregiver’s Heart to Many: Haq Foundation Supports ACTS2

Rob and Tomeka

Before her passing in 2018, lifelong caregiver Karen Haq created a foundation to honor her parents and support those who care for others. Today, the Haq Family Foundation is extending her legacy through gifts to the FSU College of Medicine’s African American Alzheimer’s Caregiver Training & Support Project (ACTS2).

The support helps ACTS2 guide families of older adults with dementia toward respite care, skills training, and faith-based support, strengthening and uplifting the caregiving journey. “Because of the foundation’s generosity, we can continue to support caregivers how, where, and when they need it,” said Tomeka Norton-Brown, ACTS2 project coordinator.
