Medical Marijuana and Simulated Driving Performance in Older Adults
As medical marijuana use continues to increase among older adults, researchers conducted a study using a driving simulator to better understand how to examine performance in this growing population.
The study, co-authored by Vice Chair Nicole Ennis, Ph.D., Assistant Professor Yang Hou, Ph.D., Research Coordinator Katie Kloss, B.A., and colleagues, followed adults newly enrolled in Florida’s Medical Marijuana Use Registry alongside a matched group of nonusers. The primary goal was to determine the feasibility of recruiting and retaining participants, while also exploring trends in driving performance.
The study offers important insights into the opportunities and challenges of conducting this type of research and provides a foundation for future investigations in this emerging area.
