Nicole Ennis

On October 14, 2025, Florida State University President Richard McCullough nominated Vice Chair Nicole Ennis, Ph.D., to serve on the Consortium for Medical Marijuana Clinical Outcomes Research Board of Directors.

Ennis is a leading behavioral scientist whose research focuses on developing and implementing effective interventions for people living with chronic or life-limiting illnesses, including those affected by HIV, substance use, and substance misuse. Her work integrates dissemination and implementation science with community-engaged research to improve real-world health outcomes.

Since medical marijuana became legal in Florida in 2017, Ennis and her collaborators have been at the forefront of studying its effects on driving performance and related public health outcomes. Their efforts have been supported by continuous funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and other agencies for more than a decade.

President McCullough praised Ennis’s “leadership, expertise, and commitment to outcomes research on marijuana use,” noting that her appointment would help advance the Consortium’s mission to improve evidence-based understanding of medical marijuana’s health effects.
