What do you like about HMSS?

HMSS truly facilitates a collaborative environment with like-minded students in terms of our professional goals yet unique in all of our perspectives. It’s extraordinary that I’m able to build lasting connections with mentors and friends through a social and scholastic approach. Being part of such a close-knit society dedicated to medicine is what keeps me so enthusiastic about being part of HMSS, where I can learn from the people and continue to challenge myself.

Why do you want to go into medicine?

Inevitably living in Tallahassee, home to endless research and volunteer opportunities, my passion for medicine was fostered and admiration for its staggering influence grew with passing years. With community service becoming an integral part of my life, volunteering for the members of my community, whether it was in hospitals or neighborhood gardens, truly resonated with my values to give back in areas where I wanted to see a change or make an impact. In an atmosphere that celebrates life yet copes with grief, I see a workforce where one’s actions go beyond the typical cubicle. My intertwined experiences have thus assembled into the mission I seek in compassionately providing an accessible healthcare service for rural, minority, and underserved sections of society as a physician.
