Flynn Emphasizes Targeted Solutions to Addressing Homelessness in Tallahassee

In a recent article from WFSU Public Media, Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine Chair Heather Flynn, Ph.D., discusses the partnership among FSU, The Kearney Center and private partner EnableYou. She addresses the effects of trauma and mental health on the lives of unhoused people accessing Kearney Center services.
Flynn is emphasizing the importance of supporting individuals with long-term trauma to improve functioning, particularly decision-making. She highlights a valuable resource in this effort, an app called Casey Chat, developed by Rick Kearney , founder of The Kearney Center, and his son Scott, founder of EnableYou. This innovative app connects homeless individuals with essential services, such as affordable housing, employment, and mental health support, offering them a pathway to stability and improved well-being.
Through her work, Flynn is helping create compassionate, effective solutions for people experiencing homelessness.
