Research going on display in atrium

An army of easels will take over the College of Medicine atrium once more during the Feb. 14 Research Fair. The annual celebration of science is in its eighth year and keeps growing.

The posters will illustrate the work of graduate students, medical students and faculty members. Best of all, presenters will stand beside their posters from noon to 1:30 p.m., ready to answer questions and elaborate on their research. The posters will be set up a day beforehand, for those who want to browse without a crowd.

The topics range from a video game to teen pregnancy to leukemia cells to the effects of cocaine.

Some of the work was born last year through the medical school’s Summer Research Fellowships. So the fair provides new medical students a chance to get ideas about research they might want to do. Proposals for the $2,500 Summer Research Fellowships will be due next month. More information will be coming soon.
