What do you like about HMSS?

I love that HMSS has allowed me to begin the undergraduate journey with support systems already in place. From formal guidance to experienced and helpful upperclassman, to my freshman HMSS group, I have been welcomed into a community of people with similar passions and values. It is exciting to be part of a group committed to service and to the betterment of each other.

 

Why do you want to go into medicine?

The positive relationships I have maintained with my own physicians are significant to my motivation to become a doctor. As a sick child, these doctors put forth the effort to treat me as a person in addition to a patient. Learning from their example, I want to improve health through relationship building, especially with vulnerable populations that are often overlooked in our healthcare system. For me, medicine offers an intellectually challenging career while at the same time encouraging compassion and service.
