In February 2026, Susan Epstein MSLS, AHIP was asked to join the Information Discovery & Interchange (IDI) Topic Committee of the National Information Standards Organization (NISO). NISO publishes technical standards, recommended practices, technical reports and white papers related to information creation and curation, discovery and interchange and policy and analysis. 

Epstein’s current committee assignment is to report on actions of the Open Discovery Initiative (ODI) Standing Committee, which works toward transparency in library discovery services for researchers and other library users.
