Ryan Earwood

Class of 2020

Hometown: Miami, Fla.
Undergraduate Degree: Florida State University

Ryan received a Bachelor of Science degree in 2013 with a major in biological science and a minor in chemistry. During his undergraduate career, Ryan worked as a veterinary technician at Timberlane Animal Hospital, where his passion for science and medicine was forged. In 2011, he solidified this passion when he began working as a teaching assistant for the non-majors general biology course at FSU and transitioned into the role of assistant coordinator. After receiving his B.S. degree, Ryan worked as a laboratory technician in the Kato lab at FSU’s Department of Biomedical Sciences, where he aided in elucidating the molecular mechanisms of ciliogenesis. In addition to his research interests, he worked as a surgical support technician in the surgery department at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and volunteered for the Capital Area Healthy Start Coalition, an organization that seeks to prevent infant mortality and helps at-risk mothers receive the care they need for a healthy pregnancy. The FSU College of Medicine’s patient- and family-centered mission is what attracted Ryan to FSU, and he hopes to add to the diversity and richness of the community that we at the College of Medicine strive to serve.
