Experience: Dr. Hodge retired from the United States Air Force, in 2020, at the rank of Colonel. During his Air Force career he served as the Program Director of the National Capital Consortium Family Medicine Residency (VA) and the Eglin AFB Family Medicine Residency (FL). Dr. Hodge deployed to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. He is the inaugural Program Director of the Emerald Coast Family Medicine Residency. Dr. Hodge has spent his entire medical career in resident and medical student education.
Areas of Interest: Spending time with his wife, Katie, especially time on the water. Traveling to visit their 3 children, Finn (Houston, TX), Fiona (Elon, NC), and Seamus (Miami, FL). Watching Notre Dame, TCU, and Miami football.

MELISSA WELCH, Ph.D., LMFT

Experience: With nearly a decade of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan, Dr. Melissa Welch specializes in integrated behavioral health, blending mental and physical well-being for holistic care. Her approach is rooted in family-centered care, recognizing the importance of relationships and systems in achieving optimal wellness. Passionate about fostering wellness, curiosity, and compassion, she is dedicated to enriching the family medicine residency program with her expertise and commitment to whole-person care.
Areas of Interest: Integrated behavioral health, resident wellness, medical family therapy
Hobbies: When not having fun at the clinic, I love spending time with my family outdoors -- we love exploring new parks, playing at the beach, fishing, swimming, and finding live music. When it's too hot or too cold, you can find me experimenting with sourdough or crafting. I also enjoy gardening, birding, and attempting to entertain my two tuxedo cats.
