Managing Sleep Difficulties in Caring for a Loved One with Dementia: Strategies for Success
Please join us for our next free Facebook Live Workshop, “Managing Sleep Difficulties in Caring for a Loved One with Dementia: Strategies for Success,” 7:00 PM-8:15 PM (Eastern Time) Thursday, November 9, 2023. This workshop provides practical information about how to manage sleep difficulties in caring for a loved one with dementia. Caregivers are often faced with challenges in assisting their loved ones to get adequate sleep. They also experience their own problems falling asleep due to caregiving demands and returning to sleep following nighttime disruptions. Featured presenter, Dr. Scott Pickett, leader in the field of behavioral sleep medicine, will cover key topics, such as developing effective sleep habits, implementing strategies to increase sleep time and quality, and identifying evidence-based resources for sleep improvement. Mrs. Tomeka Norton-Brown, ACTS2 Project Coordinator and family caregiver will share her personal experiences with lack of sleep in caring for her aunt and uncle with dementia. She also will provide information about faith-based skills training and support for dementia caregivers, as well as local, state, and national dementia care resources. Current and future caregivers, elder care professionals, and other interested community members are strongly encouraged to join the workshop.
Please contact Tomeka to register via email at tnnorton@fsu.edu. After you have registered, we will send you written workshop materials.
