Kasey D Schaettle

Class of 2019

Hometown: Tampa, Fla.
Undergraduate Degree: Florida State University

Kasey graduated in 2014 with a dual degree in chemistry and biochemistry from Florida State University. A member of the honors college at Florida State, he became a staple in the teaching staff of the chemistry department. He became one of only a handful of undergraduates permitted to teach upper-level organic chemistry labs, and was recognized as outstanding TA of the year. While attending FSU he performed undergraduate research in Dr. Igor Alabugin's lab, researching the synthesis of a potential dual-targeted cancer treatment drug based on principles of alkyne cyclization dependent on pH and UV light exposure. Kasey was highly involved with Dance Marathon at FSU, raising over $10,000 for the Children's Miracle Network. Kasey chose Florida State based on both his and the college's strong commitment to the in-depth understanding of conceptual material, as well as his commitment to general practice.
