FSU COM Faculty & Students Share Scholarship at STFM 2026

Faculty and medical students from the Florida State University College of Medicine recently represented FSU COM at the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine 2026 Conference on Medical Student Education in Charlotte.

Nicole Bentze, DO, FAAFP, FAMWA and medical student Alachua Madison Flowers presented on the use of gratitude notes as a meaningful tool to support professional and personal development. Shermeeka Hogans-Mathews, MD, FAAFP, Nicole Bentze, DO, FAAFP, FAMWA, and medical student Profilia Nord presented research examining mental health stigma, help-seeking behaviors, and barriers to care among family medicine physician educators.

Joanne Saxour, MD, FAAFP led a scholarly roundtable discussion on teaching office procedures using non-animal materials and presented a research poster on the impact of mid-rotation formative assessments in the family medicine clerkship. Nicole Bentze, DO, FAAFP, FAMWA also participated in a multi-institutional panel focused on supporting students through the SOAP process. In addition, medical student Alachua Madison Flowers presented a research poster highlighting lessons learned from a quality improvement initiative.
