What do you like about HMSS?

HMS is a unique group of people with like-minded goals. Although our ultimate goal is to fulfill our dream of being a doctor, the HMS environment is one of such that we are not competing but rather working together to help each other succeed. The upperclassmen in HMS have been in our shoes and they go above and beyond to help guide us. Not only is HMS a place that constantly filled with encouraging words, guidance, and smiles, it is a unique place that honors serving others and doing what we can to make a difference.

Why do you want to go into medicine?

Since I was a kid I have always been fascinated by the idea of medicine and the anatomy of the human body. I would watch with curiosity as they would draw blood or set a broken bone in a cast and weeks later it would be "magically" healed. My interest in medicine only grew as I got older and experienced aspects of medicine first hand. I don't want to go into medicine based solely on an interest but also the desire to help people and make a difference in others lives in any way I can. My parents instilled in me the value of serving others and using what we have to give back to the unprivileged communities and people locally around us. I want to do exactly that by pursuing a career in medicine and serving others before myself to potentially make a small difference in their lives.
