What do you like about HMSS?

As someone who comes from a disadvantaged background, I had many questions regarding the options I have towards a profession desired by many.  The advisors of the Honors Medical Scholars Society have provided invaluable insight about my plans as I progress through college to make sure I do not fall behind.  One thing for sure, I can only do better with help from the HMSS advisors and friends.

Why do you want to go into medicine?

I enjoy learning about mechanisms occurring in the body that affects a person’s mental and physical well-being.  I appreciate the knowledge that I learned can be applied on a daily basis (e.g. the mechanism of coffee stimulating intestinal fluid secretion).  Most importantly, I want to be able to apply my knowledge to improve the living standards of my community, one person at a time.
