FSU CoM Helping the Hungry in Central Florida
On January 24th, the FSU College of Medicine Orlando Regional Campus had a blast sorting and packing for the 2nd Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. Each year, this agency supports about 489,000 individuals in our community who struggle with hunger.
A special thank you to our 18 volunteers from the FSU CoM Orlando Campus, including Dr. Debra Andree and her family, 13 3rd-year medical students (Hana Ahmed, Bianca Alvarez, Sara Ardila, David Aung-Din, Elizabeth Ball, Wyndham Bonett, Alan Chan, Adam Danley, Bryno Gay, Katelyn Harrison, Alexis Kimmel, Stephanie Rodriguez, Brittany Tanner) and also 16 volunteers from Disney. Together, we sorted and packed 6,880 pounds of meat (7pallets), which provided 5,767 meals for our community!
2nd Harvest is incredibly efficient and effective. Most importantly, we were moved by their mission and agency.
We are already looking forward to our next event!
