Christopher Williams

M.D. Class of 2020

Hometown: Lakeland, Fla.
Undergraduate Degree: University of Hawaii at Manoa

Chris Williams grew up in Lakeland, Florida. He always dreamed of traveling and decided to attend the University of Hawaii, where he earned a degree in business administration. During his college summers he taught sailing to high-school-age children, and after graduating he continued a nautical career as a yacht captain. He sailed across the Atlantic Ocean twice and captained yachts up to 150 feet in length. Chris also trained in shipboard medicine and dealt with medical emergencies at sea. His career led to an opportunity to develop a clinic on a remote island in the Bahamas. This is where he found his passion for medicine and serving others in rural communities. He hung up his captain's hat and dedicated himself to a career in medicine. Chris chose to attend the FSU College of Medicine so he could expand on his rural health care experience and collaborate with other students who share similar passions.
