Undergraduate Degree: Florida State University

Marvin (“A.J.”) graduated magna cum laude from Florida State University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. From 2009 to 2016, he worked for a political data consulting company in Tallahassee, where he had the opportunity to serve some of the largest companies, member associations and political figures in the state. While an undergraduate, A.J. participated in an internship at the High-Performance Materials Institute researching UAV design and spent two summers in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica, working with local missionaries. He has been a part of several local and international short-term mission trips in Haiti; Puerto Rico; Gretna, Florida; and Senegal. Before becoming a medical student, A.J. volunteered at a children’s clinic that is run out of the Greensboro Elementary School in Gadsden County, Florida, and spent time shadowing in family medicine. In his free time he enjoys playing with his children, spending time with his wife, endurance sports (cycling and triathlon), and reading. A.J. is thrilled and honored to begin his medical career by studying in his hometown at the Florida State University College of Medicine and especially appreciates its unique mission to serve rural and underserved populations.
