Facilities
Lee Health is one of the largest public health systems in the U.S. and one of the largest not-for profit health systems in Florida. With more than 1.5 million patient contacts each year and 80+ practice locations throughout the beautiful coastal Southwest Florida area, the system includes the vast majority of all inpatient and outpatient facilities in Lee County, Florida.
The residency will function primarily from Cape Coral Hospital, a 291-bed health care center in Cape Coral. Residents will also rotate through Lee Health’s other acute care hospitals, including HealthPark Medical Center, Lee Memorial Hospital, Associates in Nephrology, Lee Health’s post-acute care centers, as well as many outpatient practices associated with Lee Health in the Cape Coral and Ft. Myers area.
A newly constructed Internal Medicine Residency Continuity Clinic, located less than one mile from Cape Coral Hospital, will be where residents care for their own patient panel, and serve as a venue for residents to address the management of chronic diseases, wellness, preventive medicine, assessment of behavioral health, and social determinants of health.
The newly constructed simulation center will offer residents a forum to practice various procedures and hone skills in a comfortable environment. Residents will use mock codes and standardized patient encounters as part of the available methods for simulation training.
