What is Medical Informatics?
At the FSU College of Medicine, medical informatics is primarily focused on education and is the process of teaching and learning how to use data, information, and knowledge to improve human health and the delivery of health care services. It involves developing skills and competencies in topics such as clinical decision support, evidence-based medicine, health information exchange, patient engagement, population health, and quality improvement. Medical informatics education also fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and evidence-based practice among health care professionals and consumers.
