Florida Asthma Program

Sponsorship Type: State-Funded, Florida Department of Health
Research Type: Evaluation
Impact: Statewide

As the evaluator for the Florida Asthma Program, Dr. Nowakowski works closely with staff from the Florida Department of Health and community partners throughout the state to assess progress with key activities. For the 2014-2019 cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, these activities include four core programs: Asthma Friendly Homes, Asthma Friendly Schools, Community Asthma Care Teams, and Learning and Action Networks. Dr. Nowakowski uses both quantitative and qualitative methods to engage program participants and implementation partners about their experiences during each grant year. These component evaluations support an overall goal of illustrating how well the services provided by the Florida Asthma Program are preparing medically underserved young Floridians to age healthfully with asthma.
