Current Legal and Ethical Controversies in American Health Law (Thursdays, 2:00pm-4:00pm)
This course will address an array of contemporary legal and ethical controversies that concern individuals who interact with health care professionals and organizations and the US health care system as patients, family members, employers, employees and citizens. Specific topics include informed consent and shared decision making, the medical malpractice system, research regulation, advance medical planning for serious illness, government power to promote public health, and health-care financing challenges.
