FSU's College of Medicine is one of only nine in the nation with a Department of Geriatrics dedicated to educating, serving, and providing care to the elderly. It is now one of two colleges in the state to receive a multimillion dollar grant as part of the National Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program. Professor of Geriatrics, Dr. Ken Brummel-Smith, and Chair to the department, Dr. Paul Katz, explains what this grant means to the department and the College of Medicine.

Members of the College of Medicine and local health organizations gathered as the executive team of Dance Marathon FSU presented the college with a check for more than half a million dollars. The money was raised during the philanthropic groups 2015 campaign, which brings awareness and funds to help provide research, medical care, and treatment at Children's Miracle Network Hospital and FSU's College of Medicine. The largest student philanthropy group at FSU presents the check to the College of Medicine every fall to help bring awareness to the campaign as students are settling back in to campus.
