New Study Highlights Rural Perspectives on Online Lifestyle Medicine
Jessica De Leon, Ph.D., of the FSU College of Medicine’s Department of Family Medicine and Rural Health, recently co-authored the study, “Rural Perspectives of Online Lifestyle Medicine Intervention Delivery, Digital Data Collection, and Health Behavior Changes: A Qualitative Study.”
Published online in the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine, the study explored rural participants’ experiences with an online lifestyle medicine program. Researchers examined perspectives on virtual program delivery, digital data collection, and the barriers and supports involved in making healthier lifestyle changes.
The findings demonstrate that individuals living in rural communities can successfully participate in online health interventions, complete study activities digitally, and make meaningful lifestyle changes. This is the second publication resulting from a rural pilot project supported through the Clinical and Translational Science Award program and conducted in collaboration with Laurie S. Abbott, Ph.D., R.N., of the FSU College of Nursing.
