Congratulations to Stephen Quintero, M.D., associate professor in the FSU College of Medicine’s Department of Family Medicine and Rural Health, on receiving the Florida Academy of PAs’ Physician of the Year Award, also known as the Physician Recognition Award.

This award honors a Florida physician who demonstrates exceptional leadership, professionalism, ethical patient care and a strong commitment to the PA–physician team. Dr. Quintero was recognized for his longstanding advocacy for the PA profession and his dedication to ensuring that PAs have a meaningful voice in medicine.

As the founding medical director of the FSU School of Physician Assistant Practice, Dr. Quintero has empowered and mentored generations of future health care professionals. His advocacy also helped establish a grant-funded collaboration with Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare that supports the continued work of HOME, an initiative serving Tallahassee’s unhoused community.
