We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Scott-King to the Department of Family Medicine and Rural Health. Dr. Scott-King brings extensive experience in community and public health, clinical operations, college health, and family private practice. Her dedicated work in education, research, and healthcare for marginalized communities has significantly contributed to addressing health disparities.

Dr. Scott-King’s research focuses on preventing cardio-metabolic risk factors and health disparities in Black communities and populations with high comorbidities. As a principal investigator, she has developed and led educational interventions in collaboration with healthcare facilities and community organizations. One of her notable achievements includes launching a mobile health education program designed to empower youth.

Driven by her passion for serving underserved populations, Dr. Scott-King led a pioneering COVID-19 pilot study within Thomas County to explore cardiovascular disease risks and health outcomes among African Americans during the pandemic.
