What do you like about HMSS?
My favorite part so far are the biweekly meetings where we can learn more about the College of Medicine as well as learn ways to be a good physician. We are also connected to other volunteering events through announcements in our meetings that can help get our hours.
Why do you want to go into medicine?
I was first introduced the the field of medicine through my mom. She is a radiation therapist and I used to visit her workplace a lot. When I did, I saw the experiences that patients were going through that connected me to the field of medicine. From then, I included myself in different clinical settings that made me love the field of medicine even more. I was mostly fascinated with the learning environment that physicians encounter. Physicians are constantly seeing new cases every day and are in a lifelong environment and I believe that a constant learning environment can make a physician thrive in their career. I also believe that as a physician, I can make a big impact in rural communities as they can address populations that lack medical care.
