What do you like about HMSS?
I enjoy the continuity of advising and leadership within the group that guides the students in hopes to get into medical school. From the volunteering to social aspects of Honors Medical Scholars, the ability to be surrounded by individuals with a common career goal is phenomenal. Also with all health professions becoming more and more competitive, it is truly wonderful that we have the opportunity to share time with Dr. Campbell and Dr. Foster to gain advice on different aspects of medicine.
Why do you want to go into medicine?
My passion for medicine started in the 7th grade when I conducted just a simple science fair project on the compliance rates of 'medicine' , using M&Ms instead of real medicine, on a once a day vs three times a day basis. After reaching the state science fair I realized the careers involved in the health field particularly in medicine. Throughout high school experiences including shadowing doctors involving routine family care and minor surgeries, volunteering at the hospital, and even dislocating my Ulna bone in my left arm showed me the intricacies of the wonderful world of medicine. These experiences have inspired to become a professional in medicine to help those in need while having a professional occupation due to its humanitarian and philanthropic aspects.
